Website design has become easy with the use of “what you see is what you get” technology, however you must have some basic ideas before you start.

It is true that building a website has become so easy that almost anyone can do it, but you need to consider some important things first.

One:  Do you have products and/or service of your own?  Are you going to use your websites to market several affiliate programs?

Two:  How soon do you want to be in business and looking for income?

Three:  Are you willing to take the time to learn about basic html or php terms and their usage?

It is not necessary for you to build graphics and templates for your site as there are many programs out there that will allow you to use their ready made templates for your site.  You can modify the templates for your use easily using a simple graphics program.  One of the best template sites I have found is Template a Day.

I would also recommend you look at Hyper VRE Monthly as they offer a monthly grouping of hot topic sites that are offered to you each month. These are also ready to upload to your domain and begin marketing as soon as you receive them.

These programs are not free but are very reasonably priced and I would suggest that you will always “get what you pay for”.  Most of the free stuff offered on the internet is not worth the effort to use it.  The internet is interested in fresh new material and not reused or over used content.  As a side note, there are very few if any businesses on the internet that are interested in giving away material to anyone who asks.  Everyone is working their online business to make money so if they offer something for free you should know that it is probably worthless and they want your contact info to upsell something to you.   That is how your email box gets stuffed with offers.

Now with a package of templates and graphics you are in business and the world of online business will open up for you.

Building your online business website is really a lot of fun. I wouldn’t kid you.  Many people are frightened by the prospect of building a website but I promise you it is very easy.  Back in the early days it took a lot of time and expertise.  You really needed to be an expert at building a website.  Very early on I paid someone to build a site for me because I didn’t think I could master the elements need to make my site profitable.  Things have changed so much that anyone can build an attractive and profitable site.

The first step is to decide several things about your site.  Always put yourself into the shoes of your potential customer.  What would you like them to see when your website comes up?  Do you want them to learn something about the product or service?  Do you want them to have the product or service sales information as the first thing mentioned?  Will you give discounts?  How do you want your customer to contact you with questions?  What colors are most appealing to your customer?  How will your customer pay you for your product or service?  There are a lot of decisions that you need to nail down before you ever start setting up a website.  It is very important to remember, You only have a few seconds to interest your potential customer to stay on your site so give them a reason to continue to investigate your offers.

Take a trip into the world of internet shopping to find the answers to most of these questions.  Go to Google search and type in your product name and search the listings that come up.  This will tell you what your competition is doing on their sites.   Some things you will like some you will dislike.  Make a list of those things that you like and why.  This will give you a starting point for designing your site.  The title of this post is “build your website for the future” by that I mean build your site to be flexible so that it can be changed if the trends change.  These is nothing that changes quicker than online trends.

If you are any thing like me you will want your website built and running yesterday, but avoid the temptation to hurry the process.  It is much easier to get things right the first time than it is to go back and redo something that you missed or disliked.  Remember, you are talking to your prospective customer.  What interests them is the most important aspect of making your site profitable.

Buy a business domain name that fits

You have made the wise decision to buy a Domain name for your
business.  So what name will you choose?  This may be the hardest
decision to make when beginning your online business career.  You
need a name that will tell something about your business. Your
name should have a word that is key to your business site contents.

It is always attractive to use your own name or something cute but
beware of the draw backs.  Unless someone is looking online for you
your business site will not attract potential customers.  A site named
JHubbard.com for example will not describe the business content of my
site and will not receive the business traffic I need to be profitable.

If your interest is in selling bicycle seats your domain name needs
to have the word bicycle seat in it.  Maybe something like comfybicycleseat.com
or bicycleseat.com.

Keep it as short as possible and to the point.  Always think like a potential
costumer looking for your products.  Don’t use words that are hard to spell
or have the possibility of errors. I own a site whose name is very long and
I received an email telling me that the sender simply would not use my site
because it took to long to type the address in her browser.  Simple and easy is best.

You will need to go to a site that sells Domain names in order to check out your choice. There are so many domain names out there that it is some times difficult to find a name that has not been taken.  I use wwkiosk for my domain name purchases.  To be honest they are a little more expensive than others but I have found them to be up front about my Domain names and reliable in maintaining my privacy and I like that.  You really do get what you pay for and some times spending a little more will bring huge benefits latter.

Building an online business is not for everyone but for those wanting to take control of their financial well being it is a very good idea.  Our world financial situation is creating stress in the employment market and it does not look good for the immediate future.  There seems to be an announcement every day of more layoffs or business closings.  Those people who have built a good online business have a resource to fall back on while the majority of people are looking for a job without much hope of replacing the income from the job that was lost.
